BOTOX® & DYSPORT®
What are Neuromodulators?
Man Getting Botox

Neuromodulators, such as Botox®  and Dysport®, are all botulinum toxins that are used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the forehead, between the brows, around the eyes, and along the bridge of the nose.  Botulinum toxins function by blocking the nerve signals that trigger the muscle contraction. Only a tiny amount of the botulinum toxin needs to be injected into the muscle for effect, which causes it to relax, smoothing the overlying skin.

If you are interested in learning more about how neuromodulators can diminish your lines and wrinkles, we encourage you to schedule a consultation with one of our expert providers at your earliest convenience.

What can I expect during my treatment

Receiving Botox® or Dysport® is a quick procedure requiring only a few minutes. No anesthesia is required as discomfort is minimal. We use a fine needle to inject Botox® into specific muscles. Full effect generally takes place at two-three weeks.

What to do prior to treatment
Botox Injections

Bruising can be minimized by stopping the following two weeks prior:

  • Aspirin

  • Anti-inflammatory medication

  • Vitamin E

  • Fish oil

Do not take any antibiotics for at least 10 days prior.

Do not have  treatment if you are Pregnant or Nursing.

Please consult with your medical provider before stopping prescription aspirin or blood thinners.

If you have any concerns regarding pre-existing conditions that may preclude you from receiving treatment, consult with your medical provider to assure you are a candidate for Botox®/Dysport®.

Please call (480) 807-1500 if you have any additional questions.

How long does an injection last?

The effects of Botox® and Dysport® usually last three to four months, although in some individuals, the effects may last longer or shorter than usual. Results can vary as well as the number of units needed to obtain the desired results.

We recommend first time clients schedule a two week follow up appointment to address any questions or concerns. At times, the addition of a few units may be necessary to achieve your desired look.

Lines and wrinkles begin to re-appear as muscle action gradually returns. With repeated treatment, lines and wrinkles appear less severe because the muscles are being trained to relax.

We encourage receiving neuromodulators on a regular schedule before all effects of the previous treatments wear off. This helps to continue training the muscles and lessen lines and wrinkles. Deep resting creases in the skin cannot be eliminated completely, but can be softened.
